Accommodation and services
One of the most important decisions that you will have as a student when establishing yourself at QUT will be the type of accommodation you choose to occupy. Brisbane offers a wide range of accommodation options, including homestay, student hostels, student apartment complexes, boarding houses, private apartments and houses.

With the help of International Student Services (ISS) services most students find permanent accommodation within a week or two of arriving in Brisbane. ISS provides an extensive accommodation service to assist you to arrange temporary accommodation prior to your arrival and to help you find permanent accommodation. They can also help you with information and advice on:
- living in Brisbane and setting up a home (furniture, appliances, internet)
- searching for temporary and permanent accommodation
- dealing with landlords and real estate agents
- any tenancy related questions or issues that may arise.

Share housing and private accommodation close to QUT
Once settled, the most common accommodation option for international students is ‘sharehousing’ with other students. Our Sharehousing website has information about living in a share house, organising your share house and keeping your share house running smoothly.
Campus Living Villages [Kelvin Grove] is a private company offering student accommodation and is located just outside the main entrance of QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus.
Other private accommodation providers close to QUT campuses include Unilodge Brisbane, Southbank Campus Apartments and Raymont Lodge. Another very popular student accommodation complex situated in South Brisbane is Urbanest Southbank.
These private accommodation providers offer a variety of apartment types. Tenancy, fees and application information are also available online.
International Student support
We understand moving to a new country to study can be an exciting and challenging time. QUT’s International Student Services (ISS) has many experienced people and support to help you settle in and get the most out of your university experience.
These services include academic and personal counselling, accommodation and employment assistance, university orientation, airport reception, language and learning advice, as well trips and activities.
East West programs
All students at QUT are encouraged to join in activities aimed at promoting cross-cultural understanding and friendships among the diverse population of students at QUT. These are coordinated through the East West Centre.
Leading international career services
QUT Careers and Employment provides free career planning and employment assistance to international undergraduate and postgraduate students. Services provided include a dedicated international careers counsellor, employer presentations and International Work Placement and Career Mentor Schemes.
These services provide opportunities for you to gain real-world experience while you study and make the transition to your chosen career.
