External
External study (also described as distance or open learning) is when students enrol in QUT courses which involve special arrangements, and teaching materials, assignments etc. are delivered to the student at an off-campus location.
Any associated attendance at the University is of an incidental, irregular, special or voluntary nature.
Application procedures for international external students based outside Australia are the same as for international students intending to study on-campus.
International applicants should be aware that under Australian law if you are studying on an international student visa you may only undertake up to 25 percent of your course by external/online/distance study irrespective of how much of the course can be delivered by external/distance/online mode.
Please see the Applying to QUT section.
The exception is that international external students will not be required to apply for a student visa.
