To gain entry to QUT courses you need to meet our academic entry requirements and English language requirements. QUT provides alternative pathways to help you meet entry requirements.
Academic entry requirements
The level and grades of your previous studies will be considered by QUT to assess your academic standard. To check whether your academic achievements meet our requirements, please follow the links below. QUT cannot confirm your eligibility to attend until we have received and assessed your application.

For some courses, such as the MBA, you also need to submit evidence of relevant work experience. And students who are interested in undergraduate Creative Industries programs may need to provide a videotape and/or portfolio of their previous professional experience. Research students will need to submit a research proposal as part of the application process.
English entry requirements
QUT accepts two formal tests of English proficiency: IELTS and TOEFL. Check the IELTS and TOEFL scores required for your course of interest. You may be exempt from taking a formal test if your secondary or post-secondary studies were conducted entirely in English and you have passed an English language subject or one or more Communication subjects.
If you are from China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan or Sri Lanka, the Australian Government requires you to provide an IELTS test result when applying for a student visa. A TOEFL test result is not acceptable.
IELTS tests are conducted in many countries by IDP Education Australia and British Council offices. There are many centres which conduct TOEFL tests – please enquire at the American Embassy or the US Information Service nearest to your hometown. You can have your TOEFL results sent directly to QUT by quoting 9778, the TOEFL institution code when you register for the test.
IELTS and TOEFL test scores must be undertaken two years or less from the time of your course commencement at QUT. Tests are often heavily booked so you should plan early.
