As one of Australia’s largest universities, QUT is a leader in international research initiatives and projects, and constantly seeks to develop international research links. QUT’s research goal is to advance and apply knowledge that is relevant to the professions and communities with which QUT interacts, and knowledge that is also relevant to the economic, cultural and social enhancement of society.

To achieve this research goal, QUT is developing a culture of research excellence with a strong commitment to national and international collaboration. As evidence of this, the University has consistently been ranked in the top 10 Australian universities for successful grants under the Australian Research Council’s collaborative research schemes linking university-based researchers with external industry partners.

QUT’s commitment to innovative, collaborative research is further demonstrated through our involvement as lead-site for the Co-operative Research Centre in Construction Innovation and the Co-operative Research Centre in Diagnostic Technology. Both Centres receive substantial support from the Commonwealth Government and core industry participants to undertake world-class research and research training.

QUT has the capability to turn research outcomes into commercial reality and has vast experience in the management of both small and large-scale research projects. qutbluebox, the technology transfer and commercialisation company for QUT, provides expert advice and support for commercialisation through project management, legal advice, intellectual property management and protection.

The University continues to perform well across key performance indicators, realising increased external income for research, as well as extensive output of publications in the form of books, book chapters, refereed journal articles and publications in professional journals.
