A project that boosts postgraduate researchers' employment skills was honoured with one of five prizes won by QUT at the nation's top teaching honours, the Carrick Awards.
Dean of Graduate Studies Professor Rod Wissler led the winning Learning Employment Aptitudes Program for postgraduate research students.
Professor Wissler said the joint project, initiated and run by the five Australian Technology Network universities, provided research students with the skills and capabilities necessary to their future employability.
The 2007 Carrick Awards for Australian University Teaching recognised excellence in teaching in two categories, Teaching Excellence and Programmes that Enhance Learning, and awarded each winning academic staff member a $25,000 prize.
Awards for teaching excellence were presented to the following QUT staff:
- Dr Jillian Clare (Creative Industries)
- Professor Peter O'Shea (Built Environment and Engineering)
- Dr Julie Hansen (Faculty of Health)
Awards for programmes that enhanced learning were won by the following QUT projects:
- The Learning Employment Aptitudes Program for research students, led by QUT Professor Rod Wissler (Division of Research and Commercialisation).
- An innovative assessment framework for enhancing learning in the Faculty of Law, led by QUT law Professor Sally Kift (Faculty of Law).
