Students connect online through Facebook

The online social networking website Facebook is taking the world by storm.

And with students and Generation Y driving the global phenomenon, QUT students are no exception.

Facebook is a versatile social tool where members who create profiles can connect easily with friends and family, as well as join university networks.

Members can also share photos and videos, list upcoming events, chat on discussion boards and advertise accommodation and second-hand textbooks.

QUT has a strong online presence with more than 6000 students in the "Queensland Tech" network, with several interest groups and clubs hosting their own pages, including:

While mainly current students and alumni populate these online groups, prospective students are encouraged to join and ask questions they may have about studying at QUT or living in Brisbane.

It’s a great way for new international students to make friends before arriving in Brisbane and get important advice from current students who can share their experiences.

(NB: the above links can only be accessed by members of Facebook. If you’re not already a member, signing up is easy at www.facebook.com)
