Korean student wins free trip and tuition

When Korean beautician Ju Yeon Yi entered an online competition on a whim, she didn't expect to be winging her way to Australia for an all expenses paid study tour.

But that's exactly what happened, and after arriving in Brisbane last month, she's already thinking about coming back.

Ju Yeon's prize was the result of the first-of-its-kind online competition in Korea that was judged by prominent Korean author, Cho Jeong Rae.

The prize included airfares, accommodation, and four-weeks' English tuition at the QUT International College (QUTIC).

Ju Yeon said she's making the most of the opportunity and enjoys the personalised teaching at the college.

"The study in small-scale [classes] is more intimate than Korea," she said.

IDP Student Mobility Scholarships for 2008

The recently announced IDP Student Mobility Scholarships will provide a boost to QUT's outbound student exchange program in 2008.

QUT has opted to use the scholarships to nominate five students to study on exchange programs with key international partners.

This means that for 2008 QUT cannot nominate a postgraduate research student or international students wishing to come to QUT on exchange or study abroad.

The results of the IDP selection process will be announced 11 December, 2007.
