New entry requirements for MBA from 2008
QUT’s Brisbane Graduate School of Business (BGSB) is the only ‘triple crown’ business school in Australia with EQUIS, AACSB and the Association of MBAs accreditation, and now they are setting their entry bar even higher to ensure they attract the cream of the MBA crop.

Applicants wishing to be considered for the MBA program from January 1, 2008 must achieve a minimum of 500 in the GMAT, as well as have a minimum of two years work experience. The GMAT is a standard test required by the most respected business schools in the world for admission into an MBA program. This brings QUT's MBA admission requirements in line with top global MBA programs.

For students who already have offer letters for 2008, the School will honour those offers, however any new applicants for 2008 courses will be assessed under the new requirements.

The only alternative to the GMAT is QUT’s own Master of Business. Graduates of the QUT Master of Business who have a GPA of 4.5 may enter the MBA (assuming they meet all other requirements) and will be granted a semester of credit.

MBA Director Dr Lyndal Drennan said the MBA program is highly regarded overseas, with international students making up 25 per cent of the student body.

“Many come looking for an educational experience that will boost their careers, open new entrepreneurial outlooks, and at the same time take advantage of Brisbane's excellent climate, safe environment and its proximity to wonderful tourist attractions,” she said.

A unique feature which differentiates QUT from other MBA providers is the six start dates each year which gives students maximum flexibility.

BGSB specialises in entrepreneurship and leadership, with many of the academics acknowledged as international experts. Dr Drennan said the school also regularly hosts guest presenters from local industry and a growing list of international visitors.

“In addition faculty from the USA, Canada, France, China and the UK are regular sessional professors and bring fresh insights for all our students and staff,” she said.
