| Sandun De Silva (Sri Lanka)
PhD in Structural Engineering
Sandun’s research looks at the response of floors to human-induced activities such as aerobics or dancing. The focus of his research is a special kind of floor used in Australian construction, called steel-deck composite floor.
“QUT have the necessary tools to support my research such as high-performance computing facilities with super-fast computers and modelling tools. The latest well-equipped laboratories have also been a part of my study success. The industry is very keen on supporting QUT’s research projects, and have helped a lot in my research duties. I would strongly recommend QUT for prospective students, as QUT’s help towards my academia is very encouraging. They have programs, for international postgraduate starters, especially for those who come from non-native English speaking countries such as Introduction to Research for International Students (IRIS).”
